On monday of this week I took part in an English teacher training Program---Canada Phoenix Educaton, it's an international TESL program in association with Coquitlam School District for DongSheng Education Bureau Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. And it lasts from July 7 to August 6,2008.
Canada Phoenix Educaton Group Corp. and School District No.43(Coquitlam) International Education jointly offer this Teacher Training Diploma program to enhance current teaching practices and introduce new classroom strategies.
Our teacher is Mr. Sanderson, we call him Arthur. Arthur is a very intellengent, humorous man and he has a wide range of knowledge. I hope we can get on well and become good friends.
During the week every teacher became an active leaner gradually and we met Arthur's abreast quickly. Although we couldn't understand his every words, we are getting better.
Arthur made every opportunity to improve every participant's oral English. We worked in pairs and groups to practise each program through different topics such as Canada culture, classroom management, principles of learning and so on. Games, songs, idioms, maps, videos, symbols and body languages are often used in his class, he showed us how to utilize these strategies or methods to help students learn English better. Arthur shared daily quotes, idioms, tongue twisters, games and songs with us, every teacher tried his best to be a responsible, contributing class member.
Speaking English in class may be hard because we have little chance to speak English except in our own classes(I have lost interest to speak English in front of others as I used to do), but we will speak English as much as possible in this month. And I hope we can insist on it for a long time...
Expect another wonderful week!
